The SFS varsity hockey team was victorious by a score of 4-2 last Friday night in a very competitive District Semifinal match up vs Bowling Green. The Knights got off to an early 1-0 lead from a goal scored by Brendan Booth (JR) and maintained that lead going into the locker room after the 1st period. From there the game went back and forth with Bowling Green tying things up at 1. With 3:57 left in the 2nd period Senior captain Devon Homier put his own rebound in the back of the net to give the Knights a 2-1 lead after the 2nd period. Just 38 seconds into the 3rd period the Bobcats tied things up at 2. From there the Knights picked up the intensity and pressure on both ends of the ice. A goal by Senior Nick Mack with 11:36 remaining in the game gave the Knights a 3-2 lead. With continued pressure by the Knights, Homier tallied his second goal of the night with 6:55 remaining in the game to give the Knights a 4-2 lead and the victory.
With the win, the Knights advance to face Northview in the District Final on Friday, March 5th at 7:00 PM at Tam-O-Shanter. These two teams are very familiar with each other after facing off three times during the regular season. The Knights were victorious in both league games by scores of 6-3 and 3-2. The only loss the Knights suffered to Northview was back on November 29th in the Cold Turkey Tournament held at Tam-O-Shanter. The Wildcats were victorious by a score of 6-2.
Tickets for Friday’s game will not be available to the general public. Streaming information will be posted as soon as it becomes available.
